How do you clean a "Puffer Ball" or "Hair Ball" toy without making it all sticky

My kids got her ball all gunked up %26amp; I washed it with soapy water and all the "tentacles" now stick together.



How do you clean a "Puffer Ball" or "Hair Ball" toy without making it all sticky.?

Dust it lighlty with baby pwder to prevent sticking
