About african american skin variation?

Why is it that some african americans are very dark and other are a bit lighter?

To clear it up: like if a kid was born with blond hair even though his parents both had black hair, can an african american child be born with lighter colored skin even though both his/her parents have very dark skin? Or does one of the parents have to be of a lighter skinned ethnicity?

About african american skin variation?

Yes, I have wondered about this myself, and currently working on a theory that the colour may be related to how much jenkem is consumed

About african american skin variation?

well usally if ur born closer to the center of the earth/equater then u tend to get darker traits eye color skin etc. but if u born in nrother perts or colder climates u grow taller usally and have lighter traits.

About african american skin variation?

if an african american's parents are both dark skin the child can be light skin, it depends on the genes of their ancestors as well as the parents

About african american skin variation?

Your skin colour is determined like most other physical traits by genes that your parents carry.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Complexion this might help with your first question

well my baby niece is darker than both of her parents, so i guess the parent's complexions don't always matter.

About african american skin variation?

I've never seen that happen unless one parent was lighter than the other, although it could happen. Even though my avatar shows otherwise, I have very light skin, my mother is darker than I am, but my father is light skinned like I am. I have seen two very dark skinned people make a child that was dark, but not as dark as them. My younger brother is about a shade darker than my mother, and we all have the same parents. Hope I helped a little. Peace

About african american skin variation?

Genetics passes through VARIOUS generations. My children are mixed BOTH of us parents have BROWN EYES......one of my children has OCEAN BLUE eyes. This gene runs on my side of the famliy. You cant tell what your children are going to look like just based on the physical attributes on the mother and father.........

About african american skin variation?

Skin color is a weird thing. One of my natural parents was very light and the other one was very dark. I came out in between the two. There are also cases in which both parents can be dark and the child can be very light or vice versa.

About african american skin variation?

This is possible, it is all in a person's genealogy, some family members were white and some were black.

About african american skin variation?

it has to go with genetics...eventhough both parents are dark, the grandparents could have been lighter and it just skipped that generation and went to the baby...didnt you study about mendel and his purple and white flower experiment?? kinda like if your eyes were blue and your parents were green... somewhere in your family one of your grandparents had blue eyes

About african american skin variation?

why is it that some whites are darker than others and some tan more easily?

Cut the crap. This is not a dissect the black species biology class. Noo one knows why there is human variation, it just is. Just accept me as i am and i will accept you as you are. Otherwise we can keep asking some dumbass why questions that we would never know the answer to and miss out on finding out the people behind faces we see everyday

About african american skin variation?

Babies can show the characteristics of other members in their familes. I have a cousin who hair was a very light blondish color, and both her parents had black hair. I've also had a cousin that was born with gray eyes and today still has gray eyes..neither of his parents had gray eyes. I've seen light-skinned babies born to darker skinned parents. There is a myriad of skin complexions within the black community. Again skin complexion pertains to the amount of melanin one carries in their genes. There could be someone in the birthline that carried unique characteristics although the parents don't have the same features

About african american skin variation?

it depends on ur family tree like if u have a milk chocolate parent and then a dark cholcolate parent. and the mc parent has an irish mother and a jamaican father its very possible they could have irish cheek bones and beyonce's skin tone or they could be alittle darker liek ciara. it all depends on geneology

and just so u know i dont think its a racist question its a good one if i wasnt black i really wouldnt know

About african american skin variation?

Well just because you're of the same race doesn't necessarily mean that you're the same skin color. It depends on the climate of the native region of your family, other ethnicities that you're mixed with, ad many other factors.

About african american skin variation?

Blacks have always had the ability to create variations in skin tone, without racial mixing. Albinoism, previous ancestral genetics, mutations all contribute. Even in Africa, there are variations in skin color among blacks according to region.

In essense, skin color in blacks is similar to the eye color deal in whites. It plays on similar rules.

For instance, I am pale, my brother is dark brown, my other brother is red, yet my parents both have the same skin color.

About african american skin variation?

yes they can be very light if their parents have dark skin... I have a friend whose parents are kind of dark... my friend is medium brown complexion so is another brother of his, but his sister and two other brothers are very light skinned , and people are always asking his sister if she is mixed.

About african american skin variation?

The professor may have an interesting theory. I tend to get darker if I have too much jenkem

About african american skin variation?

this is not only in african american, even people from africa have varying skin tones I am a black south african and I am light in complexion more like ludacris but apparently I would not fit the african american definition of an african
