Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

i just found a petition to bring back the nit nurse ,i was looking to see if there was one and if there wasn't i'd have made one myself,i spent hundreds trying to get rid of nits from my kids because i'd clear them then they'd go to school and end up with more,i check my kids daily and i know a lot of other people do too ,but what about those that don't bother checking or treating the kids immediately we are the ones who end up continuously paying out for all types of lotions ,when we were little we had the nit nurse at school and it was never half as bad as it is now, everyone was checked and the parents were made to do their childs hair,i personally would be very happy if they had the nit nurse back in school because my girls wouldn't have to endure the daily combing and having there hair pulled about because another parent couldn't be bothered to check or treat their child, what i want to know is other parents views on this.

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

Yes yes ! Bring back nitty nora ! I`m sick to death of parents who don`t check their kids heads even after letters have been sent home !!

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

I didn't even know that she'd gone away. That shows you how long ago I was in primary school!

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

those who don`t are nit twits

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

Definately a brilliant idea.

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

I agree with you. They should never have stopped nit nurses in the first place.

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

YES, bring her back!!

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

i think the nit nurse should be brought back. some parents just can't be bothered to treat there children. am fed up of treating mine. we had a meeting up the school and only 4 parent turned up. i agree with you

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

i agree it's a nightmare i get rid of them and two days later they are back, and I've even had other mums say they don't bother treating them anymore because they only get them again! so that's who we're up against, i have found a brilliant comb though it's called nitty gritty nit free comb it has ridges in the teeth so it catches the eggs,it costs about 鎷?0 but its worth it you can buy it in boots.

Nitty-Nora, the bug-explorer was a frightening site around primary school. The whole class would line up outside the staff room, going in one at a time to be physically manhandled by this Russian weightlifter of a woman. If you didn't go back to class immediately, all the other kids would know you were infected. you would have name calling, jibes, physically shunned and made to go and wash. I noticed back then, that it was only a handful of kids, maybe 2/3, who went back to class anyway. The rest of us fought in the playground over who had begun the latest infection. Great fun, great times and a welcome sign that we got on after her visit. Not like today's stuck up little tarts who shun the playground for fear of being called and having their respect jeopardised.

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

Yes please bring the nit nurse back,it drives me mad.

My daughter has caught nits at least once a year since starting school, sometimes more.

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

Like you fed up with wasting an hour a night nit combing kids for them to come home a day later reinfested!

Our school said that they can no longer send a child with nits home as breeches their human rights to be humiliated in this way!! Thought all the kids had rights, but maybe I am wrong. Surely sometimes decisions have to be for the greatest good of the greatest number?

We not using expensive lotion anymore as effected kids scalp too much, just wet combing with ordinary conditioner on a nightly basis - been ongoing from September - thanks largely to two parents who outwardly say their kids never get nits!! (They just like scratching their heads do they?) or that they dont agree with using harsh chemicals!

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

meeeeeeeee theres a girl im my form at school who has nits and she gets so badly bullied for it (Not by me ) and she has no freinds because no one wants to catch them bu if she just got rid of them then she would be so much more popular i do feel sorry for her but i think a nit nurse would help.

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

YES YES , bring the nit nurse back. i have become obsessed with checking my sons head . it seems school are to frightened to tell the parents who don't bother to sort the problem out .

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

for and against. i remember being at school and children being singled out by the nit-nurse causing extreme embaressement and for some shame...on the other hand it is annoying when you get yours cleaned up only to catch them again from the original source.

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

It's probably a good idea. My son has had nits loads of times. It's really frustrating!

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

My son's school has a nurse that stays right on top of it, but when my girls were younger it was awful. I tried to sign your petition but I live in the US, sorry. Good Luck

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

yep definietly i've had at least 3 letters sent home from school last term saying there's yet another out break of headlice. try pure tea tree oil in the shampoo about 5 drops. iv'e do this since she started school and touch wood my daughter hasn't caught them yet!!

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

This was suggested in a parenting support group I ran at the infant school where I work, when we had the school nurse in to talk about health issues. The answer from the already overstretched nurse (who has 1000 children's health and welfare to consider!) is that it's simply unworkable to deal with nits as well. To effectively treat an infested head needs half an hour's combing through. With 300 children in my school alone, do the sums! Even a 5 minute screening would take 25 solid hours and then the nurse would simply identify kids who are infested (as do school staff on a daily basis). The parents are alerted. Some deal with it, some, sadly don't see it as a problem. By the time the nurse got around to the 300th child, the first would probably be re-infested anyway.

In a perfect world, parents should check their children daily and deal with infestation immediately. Saying that, 40 years ago, when I was at school. and "Nitty Nora" was still a visitor to school, she only visited maybe once a term (or even once a year, the memory's sketchy) and in the intervening period nits were always around!

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

im in total agreement with you. i am a mother and totally fed up. i was thinking just the other day, headlice was never as commmon as it is now, me and my siblings can remember only ever getting treated once when we were little and i wonder if its because there is no nit nurse now. i have tried every lotion and tip, i even tried vinegar once. at the min i sit for hours and pull the eggs out with my fingers, its not an easy task, its disgusting but i have to resort to that as i've drained every other avenue. and yes, it bloody infuriates me when other parents wont take the time to sort out their kids. my eldest daughter had hair to her hips and it grieved me to cut it, but i had to, it was becoming difficult to solve the nit problem. do we have to keep resorting to stuff like that. im going to sign the petition.

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

yes what a good idea we all know the child who has nits and does not get treated go to the doctor your perscription is FREE Uk so people can't moan about the expense it really winds me up.At my sons school it is one child who is re infecting everyone as the pta chairperson we gave the whole school a free nit comb on national nit day school nurse did a big talk but some people just don't care

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

Please, yes bring back the school nit nurse, well curtainlly in where it is needed. I work in schools where we have lovely parents who work hard to get rid of the nits that their child brings home but all it takes is one parent not treat thier child and the problem just goes on and on and on.

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

Yes, as a school dinner lady I think there should be one. Its not just the children they pass between its staff as well. Someone needs to be keeping on top of it, especially as lot of parents either can't be bothered or don't understand

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

i agree that it's a good idea to bring back the nit nurse. at least that way every child will get checked. so many lazy parents don't bother and their kid passes it on to everyone else!!

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

Definitely!! I used to work in a pre school and a girl in my class had them every week, we weren't allowed legally to look for them tho so every time she came in we would play 'hair dressers' and tye her hair up, as her hair was always down. I have signed your petition cos I think it would make a lot of peoples lives a lot easier!!! In the mean time, apparently hair spray is good to avoid getting them, as the nits can't hold onto the hair very well!!! :-)

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

tel me about it i work in schools and if my daughter dosent bring them home i do i am for ever trying shampoos there meant to stop you getting them but nothing works for long. i know that the nit nurses would be good in schools we do have a nurses who checks the children regular but only if parents give premission which usually means that lazy parents who think its OK for there children to live with nits don't give permission.

i had a child in my class last year who's lice were so bad that you could see them all over her head there were at least 5 lice per inch of hair when i spoke to the parent she seem horrified and i though she would sort it but she didn't it got so bad that i had ring he child's grand parents who picked the child up and sorted it. i was also forced to inform local social services as i believe that its a form of neglect i can not understand how that poor child's head must have felt. what is wrong with these parents.

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

i agree with you i think they should bring the nit nurse back as i get sick of clearing daughters hair to go back to school to get them again i too check her hair everyday but like you say not everyone does................... i will be signing petition

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

i agree with you totally. When I was in school I never had it this bad and I'm one of 5. All I have seemed to do since my kids started school is spend a fortune on wonder nit miracle cures, and none of them are effective if the parents don't bother. My oldest is now 14 and , so it's a long time to be battling this problem. My youngest is 5 and his teacher does warn us of an out-break asap but it doesn't really matter if not everyone does their kids hair. Also when I was a kid I remember being not allowed back to school for a few days after I'd had nits. I wonder if this would be illegal these days as it would be intentionally keeping kids from education, but I guess it's not viable if they go back and catch it from someone else. Bring back the nit nurse asap, I shall definately be signing the petition.

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

In our elementary school, they still have one. I didn't know they had ever went away. The school nurse checks our kid's head periodically. I personally think it's a wonderful idea, since I can never spot them. It's sometimes hard for other parents to know what to look for, so they don't know when their children have lice or not. They just think it's dandruff. Personally, if I even see anything white in their hair, I write a letter to the nurse to check their head, just in case. You never know. Good luck.

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

We have lice going around the elementary school right now. What we were to told to do to prevent our children from getting it was to put a couple of tablespoons of Tea Tree Oil shampoo into the kids shampoo. I Know exactlly what you mean we cheack everyday also and we shaved our sons hair but my daughter has really long hair. The school sent home a letter telling parent to put mayo on the hair but does'nt get rid of the nits. It an on going battle. If they have lice don't send them to school! You not only have to treat hair but everything in the house with the spary.

Who thinks bringing back the nit nurse is a good idea?

I personally dont agree with the nit nurse being brought back, children who are infested are alreay paranoid to start off with and from my experience the ones that are, are the ones whose parents couldn't care less if the had nits or not, so why make school lofe more difficult for the child.

After a lengthy discussion with our local school and health visitor we were advised that the only reason nits are more of a problem now that what they used to be is because of the amount of lotions and potions available, and have you seen the price of them.

We did a little experiement my friends and I half of us used the lotions and half of us just used the combing (wet/dry) and bottles of conditioner, the ones that used the combing cleared a lot quicker so now every night my some has a quarter of a bottle of conditioner put on his head, his hair is that soft and shiny they are unable to grip to the hair.

Of course this is my opinion and not medical fact.
