Anyway鈥?did u forget while talking about women in Islam that the U.S has the higher numbers of :

Crimes, especially pregnant women from a street sex

In rape

In abusing people "sex abuse"

In DEVORCE

In hitting women鈥?i mean lots of American men I saw on TV are in jail for killing their women or hitting them

Has the higher number in prostitutes asking for money 鈥︹€?br> And ya not to forget mentioning the single mothers who were left alone after knowing from the fathers that "she is pregnant"

And also higher orphans and street kids

So do you think u r fair?or let me be fair鈥nd say that u may not really know the truth. I mean the media in U.S is like lying to a kid鈥aybe you are shown the wrong side of everything鈥s that the reason鈥f not then what's this big reason?

I admit that I do not know a whole lot about Women in Islam, but it sounds as though you offer up some good arguments.

I recently read "Lipstick Jihad" and I loved it. I would recommend it to anyone with an interest in the Islamic worls and the American culture and how they cross over for some people.

Have you ever heard of honor killings, and stoning women who've been raped, this only happens in Islamic predominant countries.

Also, some where in your holy book sanctions the act of a husband scourging his wife if she doesn't behave which, boils to lightly "hitting" her.

So, don't throw stones while living in glass houses.

I'm an Christian American woman, I love and cherish my freedom to choose.

If Islam was so wonderful Muslims wouldn't be breaking their necks to come and live in our country of freedom.

4. It is okay to beat wives

1 "Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means (of annoyance): For Allah is Most High, great (above you all)," (4:34).

5. In Paradise, voluptuous women await men for sensual gratification

1. "In them will be (Maidens), chaste, restraining their glances, whom no man or Jinn before them has touched," (55:56).

2. "We have created (their Companions) of special creation. And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- For the Companions of the Right Hand," (56:35-38)

3."Verily for the Righteous there will be a fulfillment of (the heart's) desires; Gardens enclosed, and grapevines, And voluptuous women of equal age," (78:31-33).

You're courage is to be commended. It is that most people in the west view such decisions as a mark of difference. By asserting your beliefs, you're aliening yourself with rules that conservative Islam places upon you. This is seen as embracing conservative views that are not typically found in the west. Right, or wrong, western society gives woman the right to sit where they want, travel how they wish, and be individuals independent of male relatives. (actions that are typically forbidden by numerous Fatah's) What is important to remember is that violence against woman is violence against woman west or east.

US media is not always correct. However its not controlled by the government so has no reason to lie. Rape is crime in America and dna is used to convict the criminals. In many muslims countries you need 4 witness. DNA is not allowed. Human rights are far behind in the Muslim world. The media is only part of the problem, it's individuals failing in their responsibility to get off their lazy heinies and do the research. It's more fun to immerse one's self in other ridiculous mindless pursuits. (sigh)
