I've read that the Dutch are the healthiest nation, because they don't shower a lot...r?

they shower about twice a week and wash their hair only once a week. that way they keep their natural body oils, they're rarely sick and the dutch kids don't have headlice. i think it's because of the legal weed, the fresh air and the cycling. are you dutch? if so how often do you shower and rinse your hair?

First of all, the Dutch are very healthy because we eat a lot of vegetables and drink al lot of milk, move more (cycle) etc. Most ppl shower every day. Dutch kids DO get headlice (who told you that they don't??). And we also DO get sick! There's always a flu going around. Also, not everybody smokes weed. I think that most ppl don't do drugs actually. I myself shower every day at least once! during the winter I shower once a day and during the summer twice a day. I wash my hair every other day. Ok, there might be ppl that shower twice a week, but I've never met one before (tg!)!

I also think that not showering does not make you healthier. If it was, they would've probably thought me that in medschool! I think that that is just a myth little kids made up so they could skip the showering.

they are probably healthy because the have free national health care.

o.k. the oils thing is right for the hair but not the body. you need to wash or your poors get clogged and you can become sick. also, did you know that sweat actually contains urea(urine) that is why it smells so bad.the cycling is very healthy as is fresh air. i went to amstedam when i was in the army.

Although many continental Europeans have not adopted American levels of obsession with hygiene, They still remain quite clean. I believe that their good health is more likely attributed to their excellent and conprehensive universal health care.

Where did you get that load of rubbish? Too funny.

Wow. I'm not Dutch, and if that generalization holds true, I have no desire to become Dutch. Though I do like fresh tulips....

I think this is an (international) urban legend!

I'm married to a Dutch guy who showers almost daily, has almost no hair left to wash and doesn't cycle (although he does work out several times a week at the gym and would be out at sea sailing for weeks, if not months, if he had the time and we had the money to buy a boat!). He doesn't smoke anything!

Head lice are practically an epidemic in much of Europe especially in (primary) elementary schools in the autumn.

Traditionally -- and generally -- the Dutch are very active, walking a lot, cycling perhaps even more, skating en masse in the winter WHEN the canals freeze over (which is NOT happening at all this year).
